ABOUT METASTATIC BREAST CANCER

Stage 4, MBC: The incurable and terminal stage of breast cancer, where cancer cells spread to other parts of the body. Research offers hope for longer, less harsh treatments, but less than a third survive past five years. We refuse to accept this. By funding MBC research, we aim to transform this disease from deadly to chronic, allowing for longer, more normal lives. Research is the key to saving lives.

Galas Save Lives: The Met Gala SCV is part of a nationwide effort by METAvivor, a volunteer-led, non-profit organization. We exclusively fund MBC research through rigorous scientific peer-review. Galas like ours raise millions of dollars to support critical research that can change the lives of those battling MBC. Join us in making a difference.

THE ORIGIN OF THE RIBBON

The pink ribbon is widely recognized in the fight against breast cancer. However, stage 4 breast cancer patients believe that pink doesn't fully represent their experience. Metastatic breast cancer spreads to vital organs, making it a fatal disease. To highlight its uniqueness and connection to other stage 4 cancers, METAvivor created a base ribbon in green and teal. Green symbolizes renewal, hope, and immortality, while teal represents healing and spirituality. The thin pink overlay signifies the cancer's origin in the breast. We welcome other cancer communities to overlay their own ribbon on this metastatic base, as all stage 4 patients share common concerns and challenges.
